“These photographs are an ongoing project, from multiple working and vacation visits to the USA over an 18-month period. The work takes place at the same as a great deal civil unrest gripped the USA, between African-American communities, and law enforcement agencies that proportionally lack people from the ethnic minorities they are mandated to represent.
I initially travelled to the Quantico VA, to train alongside the US Marines with the UK military. In my spare time, and on follow up visits I met up with other photographers in the Baltimore/DC area, who inspired and informed my practice which I have since taken back with me to the UK. I now study Photography at Leeds College of Art, and am a contributor to LAW magazine. With regard to my own personal work I am principally interested in the traditional aims of street photography, that is the decisive moment.”
